Standard lease agreements
Schools must make a third-party occupancy application for lease agreements that are not for other schools or casual users.
Lease agreements
Schools sometimes lease property to a tenant who is not another school or a casual user. You must fill out our third-party occupancy application form for these types of leases, and send the form to your property advisor.
In some cases, you may also need to supply extra information alongside the application form.
Internet access agreements
Fill out the internet service provider schedule and send it to your property advisor along with the third party occupancy application form.
Solar panels
Solar panels not owned by the school board or by us must have an Energy Services Agreement (ESA) in place. This must be negotiated between us and the company providing the solar panels. Contact your property advisor if you want to get solar panels that will be owned by someone else.
Third-party providers must meet our minimum terms.
School swimming pools
The school board needs to send us an additional information form when setting up a swimming pool lease.
The approval process
When we receive your lease application, we’ll review it and let you know the outcome.
If we approve the proposal, we'll send you an agreement to sign. If you want to make any changes to it, they must be agreed between the board and the third party, and the proposed changes must be sent to us in writing before you sign it. This allows us to consider the proposed changes and, if needed, revise the agreement and reissue it for signing.
When the board and the third party have both signed the agreement, send it to us. Once it’s been consented by the NZSPA Board we’ll return a fully signed copy to you. The agreement won’t be valid until it gets that consent.
If we need more information, or don't approve the proposal, we’ll contact you for more information or to explain our decision.
