School site extensions
We may fund and manage a site extension for your school if we can show there's a need for additional space. This could be due to roll growth pressure, health and safety concerns, wastewater disposal, or encroachments onto neighbouring properties.
Request a site extension
If you believe your school has a reason to extend its site, contact your property advisor to discuss it first. They’ll let you know what kind of information we need from you to support a case to buy more land for the school.
They’ll also guide you on the process to apply for a site extension.
What we consider
Before we commit to buying additional land, we’ll look at both your current and planned:
- buildings
- play areas, and
- parking.
We’ll consider the:
- site’s current size and usability
- site’s safety, access and infrastructure requirements – like drainage and retaining walls, for example
- financial implications of buying the land
- ongoing maintenance and management needs of the land.
We make decisions about site extensions on a case-by-case basis, and they’re subject to a national prioritisation and funding process.
