Funding for new classrooms at integrated schools
Integrated school proprietors can apply for funding to help with the building costs of a new classroom.
Funding for new classrooms
Funding is sometimes available to integrated school proprietors to help with the cost of building a new classroom. This funding is known as Policy 2 funding, and it may be available if the school meets certain criteria.
The proprietor is responsible for providing classrooms and facilities at the school. They can apply to us to:
- establish a school and apply for it to be integrated
- increase the capacity of the school by applying for a maximum roll increase.
Applying for Policy 2 funding
There are two kinds of Policy 2 funding.
Classroom assistance
Proprietors can apply for classroom assistance funding when filling out a maximum roll increase application. This is for 1 or 2 classrooms.
Assessment criteria for classroom-only applications
The application needs to define the local school network and must show that:
- current demand for enrolment in that network is over 85% of its capacity
- projected demand will go beyond the network’s current capacity within 10 years.
Whole of school funding
This is when proprietors are applying to build a new school. We seek funding from the Government through the annual budget process, and allocate funding to schools based on the amount we get.
Assessment criteria for a new school
An application for Policy 2 funding to establish an entire new school must show that a new state school is likely to be needed within 10 years if the integrated school isn't built.
The application must also meet the criteria for a classroom application.
Funding rate
We provide 85% of the funding provided for classrooms in state non-integrated schools. This is regardless of whether the proprietor is building a new school or expanding an existing school. We review the standard classroom budget regularly.
